You can find 147 species of mammals, around 150.000 elephants, (50.000 in Chobe National Park), and some 593 birds here, most in the Okavango Delta. Our production coordinator in Botswana will tell you that the fauna of the region is just one of its assets, interesting legends being another one. Moreover our journalist fixer can help you discover some of the most unbelievable ones.

Kalahari Desert
Let our location scout uncover the Kalahari Desert for you. We will show you how, with its seasonal wetlands, significant rainfall, and a surprising variety of animals and plants, it is not a desert in the true sense of the word. It is a huge sandy savannah, rich in wildlife and unique flora. As per our production coordinator in Botswana, the region is home to several game reserves, including the second largest one in the world, Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR).
Gaborone
Gaborone is the capital of Botswana. It is in the south, near the border with South Africa. Its downtown is dominated by modern buildings, from glittering hotels to casinos. The Main Mall boasts a plethora of shops, while the surrounding area hosts monuments and government buildings. Monkeys and birds call out from the wetlands of Gaborone Game Reserve, and Kgale Hill delights with panoramic views. Our production coordinator in Botswana has some interesting stories to share with you about Otse Village, a 30-minute drive away.

Okavango Chobe
One of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Delta spreads across 15,000 square kilometers and is the largest inland delta in the world. It provides vital habitat to the black rhino, spotted hyena, Nile crocodile, and more. Also, there are more than 150.000 islands in the Okavango Delta. The sizes vary from a couple of meters to a few kilometers. However our journalist fixer knows exactly who you can interview for a feel of life here.
Makgadikgadi Pan
One of the largest salt flats in the world is the remains of the Makgadikgadi Lake, which at one time covered an area as large as Switzerland! Covering an area of 12,000 square kilometers, the pan can be traversed by tourists on horseback and quad bikes during the day, while night brings migrating zebra and wildebeest. When there is enough rain, the pan can turn into a blue lake that famously attracts flamingos. Let our location scout show you some incredible pictures of them!

Chobe National Park
Botswana’s efforts to preserve elephants have managed to keep populations stable, with the largest concentration being found in Chobe National Park. Our production coordinator in Botswana will proudly tell you all about it. Also you will find a healthy big cat population here, with lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Even though the country’s conservation policy can make its safaris quite the exclusive destination, if you are interested in shooting animals (with cameras only!), count on our location scouting to find and secure your ideal spot.
Hiring a location scout in Botswana
Otse village is surrounded by Manyelanong and Baratani hills. Manyelanong is one of two sites where you can find Cape vultures. Baratani is popular for a real-life Romeo and Juliet story. A couple of young lovers in a forbidden relationship decided to elope and hid here, never to return. The village has other legends as well. For example, one outstanding story is of the brave woman Bosetlha, who fought a 3-meter Python that had wrapped itself around her body.
She held the python’s mouth wide open for approximately 30 minutes until some good Samaritans passed by and saved her.
